Restaurant Style Chilli Paneer

Chilly paneer is a popular Indo -chinese dish preferred by many of us. Paneer is a star ingredient in many Indian vegetarian recipes .It is a fresh cheese made by curdling

milk with lemon juice, vinegar or any other food acids.People prefer to include paneer to their diet because of it's health benefits and it's richness in protein and calcium.

Ingredients for chilli paneer recipe:

Paneer 250 grams

Onion thickly sliced 1large

Green capsicum thickly diced 1 medium

Oil for frying paneer

For Batter:

5 tablespoon all-purpose flour

3 tablespoon cornflour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper powder

2 teaspoon soya sauce

some water

For sauce:

2 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon shredded ginger

1 tablespoon chopped garlic

2-3 green chillies cut into long pieces

1 tablespoon soya sauce

2 tablespoon red chilly sauce

2 tablespoon tomato ketchup

1 teaspoon kashmiri chilly flakes

1 tablespoon vinegar

1 teaspoon pepper powder

1 teaspoon sugar

Cornflour slurry from 1 tablespoon cornflour and 3 tablespoon of water

Salt to taste

Chopped spring onion


Method of cooking:


1. The first step for cooking chilly paneer is to make the batter mix .For this combine 5 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 3 tablespoons of cornflour, 2 teaspoons of soya sauce salt and pepper powder with 1/2 cup of water.The mixture should be in correct consistency. It should not be very runny neither thick.Mix paneer with this batter to make it ready for deep fry

2. Heat enough oil in a wok for deep fry the battered paneer over a medium flame till it get a nice golden brown colour. Then remove from the oil and drain it on a paper towel. Keep it aside.

3. For making sauce, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in wok, add garlic ,ginger and green chillies. Give a stir for half a minute.Then add diced onion and capsicum, stir again for 1 minute. After that add soya sauce, red chilly sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar red chilly flakes, salt, black pepper and sugar. Give a good stir on high heat for a minute.

4. Add enough water and prepared corn starch slurry to the sauce. Then cook it for another minutes till the sauce thickens well to coat on the paneer and veggies.

5.Add deep fried paneer to the sauce and mix well

6.Lastly garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
