Cauliflower Egg Fry (Thoran)

It is nothing but a mouth watering side dish from the combination of cauliflower, scrambled egg and grated coconut. It goes well with both rice and chappathi.This is absolutely delicious and easy to make.Try it and enjoy.



Ingredients :


Finely chopped cauliflower - 1

Egg - 3 Nos

Crushed shallots - 10 Nos

Grated coconut - 1/4 cup

Chilly powder - 1 3/4 teaspoon

Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon

Salt to taste

Mustard seeds - 1/2 teasooon

Coconut oil - 1 1/2 tablespoon

Dry red chillies - 2 Nos

Curry leaves - 1 spring


Directions to make :


1.First, chop the cauliflower finely ( it help to cook fast). Then heat water in pan and drop the chopped cauliflower with 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt. After washing and straining, crush or chop the florets maximum, then keep it aside .

2.Break 3 eggs into a bowl with salt.Pour it to a nonstick pan, keep it stirring until it look cooked, keep it aside.

3. Heat the coconut oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds, allow it to splutter, then

add dried red chillies and curry leaves.

4.Add crushed shallots saute well. When it get transparent add chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt for taste. Saute till the raw smell goes and add grated coconut.

5.Now it's the time to add finely chopped/crushed cauliflower with sauted shallot. Sprinkle some water and mix everything thoroughly.

6.Close the pan and let it cook for at least 15 minutes in the steam. Open the lid often and mix everything to make sure that it's not burned

7.When cauliflower nicely cooked, it is the time to add the scrambled egg and mix everything well. At this stage checkout the salt, if needed add it.Allow it to cook for another 10 minutes and serve hot
